The story about the Apple 4g iPhone prototype being sold to Gawker was really big news over the last month. Today I just discovered that someone I used to be fairly good friends with was intimately involved in the transaction.

The article on CNET lists Sage Robert Wallower as the middleman involved in asking various media outlets if they would purchase the prototype from his friend. 

Sage used to work with me when he was in the Navy and I was in the Army. He lived in an apartment a few buildings down from mine. He bought a laptop from me for $500 (and still only paid $400! Sage: if you read this: GIMME MY MONEY!!!)

Haha, no, but seriously, Sage was a pretty cool dude back then. He tried to teach me to “spin records” on his “tables” or whatever the lingo is, but I just didn’t have a knack for it. I lost touch with him when he got out of the Navy and I guess he’s off in California going to UC Berkely and getting himself involved in nasty legal disputes, but I wish him the best of luck.
